You are watching: There were five dollars active or passive
Five children were taken to the zoo. A casserole was set on the table. Skiing is a popular sport. Happily panting, the dog ran to its master. The teacher had left the class. The pen was missing. There were five dollars.
Show us what you've tried to do by yourself, first! I can help you out with some examples and explanations from the British Council's Learn English pages:
|The hunter killed the lion.||The lion was killed by the hunter.|
|Someone has cleaned the windows.||The windows have been cleaned.|
The ACTIVE voice is when you find the subject (the hunter, someone), and it is the one doing the action. The PASSIVE voice is when you find the subject (the lion, the windows), and it is the one receiving the action.
Who is the subject in each of your example sentences? Is it the same thing that's doing the action? Subject in bold, verb (action) in italics to help you out.
