You are watching: Is lettuce ok if left out overnight

Did some grocery shopping yesterday, and due to pain/fatigue I fully missed a bag while placing the food away. There to be 2 bags of packaged romaine lettuce, a party of flavored liquid non-dairy creamer and also 4 lbs that butter. It to be unrefrigerated from around 2 p.m. Yesterday until I obtained up at 4 a.m. And discovered it still sit on my counter. It"s only around $20 total...I have health issues and also will gladly toss it rather than risk getting sick, simply don"t desire to toss it unnecessarily. I"m thinking the unopened butter and also creamer are most likely ok? generally concerned about the lettuce. *I do require knowledgeable advice, not guesses or "I"ve eaten that and lived come tell about it" tales. : i can"t bought to obtain sick.

Dunno about the lettuce. I"d be pretty cautious about that. The non-dairy creamer, dunno, kinda counts on what"s in reality in that that would certainly spoil. (I never ever use that so don"t have a clue.) The butter is for sure fine. I perform keep butter in the refrigerator until I"m all set to acquire some the end to use and then it simply goes in a spanned butter food on the table until provided up. Even if it"s a mainly or two, that butter is just fine.

It"s every fine. Butter can be left out for 3 days or even more. Lettuce is fine, just wash. Placed in a vinegar to wash if you"re cautious. The coffee creamer? HAHA, the frankenfood would certainly prolly be OK in a month! (I usage that crap, too, don"t tell!)
Thanks because that the replies. Yes, I intended the sealed packaged lettuce in the refrigerated section. Don"t an especially care to use the stuff yet I deserve to no much longer garden and the packaged stuff cuts down on the time I have to spend on mine feet (only need to wash it). I agree totally about the frankenfood, LOL. One cup that coffee each Sunday morning is among my few remaining food vices. I prefer coffee an extremely much however it doesn"t return the favor, for this reason the fake creamer as it"s the only thing the protects my stomach from the coffee. (Don"t know what will safeguard my stomach native the creamer.) Butter goes in the freezer come be used in tiny amounts. Food below is expensive. Those prices...$3 because that a bag the romaine, $2.50/lb because that butter and $4 because that the large container that creamer are an excellent sale prices. Right now asparagus is almost $5/lb, grapes room $4/lb., milk is still $3/gallon for the cheap brands.
