Read is the only verb that's spelled the same in the past and present tense however pronounced differently, yet there are plenty of various other word bag that are homographs however not homophones: bow* (the weapon, a knot vs. Bending to show respect, a component of a ship), bass (the fish vs. A deep voice), produce (to cause/make vs. The grocery store department), etc.

Why read doesn't monitor the exact same pattern together lead or bleed is quiet pretty mystifying. Reading (the ideal noun vs. The type of the verb read ) is strange too.
