Have girlfriend tried instead of the vss sensor (vehicle rate sensor)? it is situated on the top component of the transmission. If you was standing over the passenger next fender looking down right into the engine bay girlfriend will view the intake, under the you will check out the starter associated to the transmission. If you eliminate the intake arm from the intake manifold, and also look right down with a flash irradiate you will see a sensor the is situated on the transmission and held under by 2 10mm socket bolts. Eliminate the 2 bolts and twist the unit and also pull the whole unit the end the transmission, unplug the actual cable harness from the sensor and also reverse instructions because that reesemble. If all stops working then you need to look into replacing your gauge cluster. Great luck

I am reasoning this might also be the reason of the D4 light flashing.

You are watching: 1992 honda accord speedometer not working

Am ns correct?

My 1994 Honda civic cluster works and is plugged in, yet sometimes as soon as I’m driving and also I use my revolve signal my speedometer goes to zero, my temp goes to cold and also my gas goes to empty, however the lamp still work... Quiet think the the same thing he’s handling or other else?

I’ve been having this problem for a when after resolving my leaking distributor which probably damaged my starter. I just replaced the starter today, and also it’s to be firing up every time.

Before I replaced the starter, I changed all the other materials mentioned on various other threads: the VSS, ignition switch wiring and also even the battery.

After compare the new starter through the initial OEM starter, I discovered a chip close to the spade connector i beg your pardon probably influenced the link (along through the oil that was dripping top top it). This small connector probably was affecting the speedometer and inconsistent starting.

I have a similar problem v my 95 gen 4. It will certainly work, but seems "held back". Then sometimes it will just jump up to actual speed! seems that putting in a stereotype with navigating & simply use that speedo, would certainly be cheaper.

I have a 1992 Honda Accord wagon, LX, ns think.

I have been having intermittent troubles such as speedometer/tachometer unexpectedly dropping the end to zero, intermittent oil pressure light flashing, intermittent D4 gear indicator flashing.

I have the right to shut off engine, wait for a couple of minutes, then restart, and also it normally cures it for a quick time,…. Usually.

It’s been acquiring progressively worse; very first it started with intermittent oil light flashing, climate weeks later the drop-out that speedometer and tach gauges, now flashing D4 equipment indicator, …and then once (so far) shutting engine turn off to reset the symptoms then trying come restart only to have actually engine no fire ago up and also start, acquisition 2 or 3 do the efforts to obtain it started ago up (it have never had actually a problem starting before, warm or cold start.)

*NOTE: ns do have actually an oil leak, which might account for the oil light flashing, but it also seems to coincide through the other issues at this point, and generally goes out after stopping and also restarting the engine.
